This article explores different senses of the concept of meaning in educational research, presenting ‘meaning’ as personal (the researcher’s quest for meaning through research), contextual (meaning in relation to linguistics and culture) and shared (through communication), offering illustrative examples from the literature and from her own work.

National Center for Research on Teacher Learning (NCRTL)
The NCRTL operated from 1985 to 1995, supported in part by major grants from the Office of Educational Research and Improvement, US Department of Education. Based in the College of Education at Michigan State University, its mission was to provide leadership in the field of teacher education research. The main purpose of this site is to help disseminate the research that was produced at this facility.
